In November 2002, a new women’s apparel shop opened in Kilmarnock, greatly expanding fashion options for women in the Northern Neck.

Foxy’s, at 24 West Church Street, recently celebrated its third anniversary, and in three years has become one of the favorite places for “mature women” to shop.

“There’s no question that our customers are the reason we’ve been successful,” said Foxy’s owner, Kathy Lukasewicz.

“They are wonderful people and they’ve been very supportive.”

Kathy, who is a veteran retailer from Maryland, decided to open a shop when she and husband Ken, like so many other accomplished urban professionals, sought the peaceful life offered in the Northern Neck. Kathy said she saw a need for the kind of store where she liked to shop. The result was Foxy’s.

“It’s a pretty basic approach. We try to provide a good selection of quality clothing in a fun environment,” Kathy said.

It helps that Foxy’s also has a knowledgeable, helpful staff that customers have come to know and rely on. Donna Kuykendall, June Pfister and Betty Kevorkian team with Kathy to assist customers choose just the right outfit or accessory. Together, they’ve made Foxy’s a favorite stop for women aged 30 and up.

“I keep hearing from our customers who pleasantly surprised they are at all of our choices,” Kathy said.

In the wake of their third anniversary and heading into the holidays, Foxy’s is featuring “fun and games” all through December, offering customers the chance to win gifts and gift certificates.

Foxy’s is also a great place to do Christmas shopping, and even men will find it an easy, helpful place to shop. In fact, Kathy suggests men shopping for their wives should avail themselves of Foxy’s sage advice.

“Choosing clothing is a very personal experience for women, so I suggest men consider gift certificates,” Kathy counsels.

Foxy gift certificates come in various denominations, and each one is colorfully wrapped in a box for easy gift-giving. And recipients will be delighted, since they can spend some quality shopping time at Foxy’s in Kilmarnock.
