26th Annual Reedville Blue Fish Derby set for June 12-13

Everything is in place for a weekend for the entire family with fishing, dancing, crafts and food according to Russ Bertino, Tournament Director for Smith Point Sea Rescue’s 26th Annual Fishing Derby. Fishing days are June 12th and 13th with final registration at Buzzards Point Marina from noon till 8PM on June 11th.

Anglers new to the Derby from the Potomac River are registering with as a result of this years addition of Coan River Marina as a location to turn in fish for weighing.

Bertino also announced that The Ray Pittman Project will be entertaining Friday night June 12th from 8PM till midnight and Casper will be playing Saturday night from 8PM to midnight. The entertainment along with various food and craft vendors all take place at Buzzards Point Marina in Reedville.

This will be the 26th year for the grandfather of Bay tournaments and will be held on June 12th and 13th at Buzzards Point Marina in Reedville, Virginia. This event, hosted by Buzzard’s Point Marina in Reedville, has been a tradition on the Northern Neck since its inception.
The Derby pays out over $32,000.00 in cash prizes for catching three species of fish local to the area, namely, striped bass, bluefish and croaker. This year additional skill categories add additional possibilities for fisherman to win cash awards. There are also prize categories for both female and youth anglers as well.

Smith Point Sea Rescue is a totally volunteer rescue unit which serves boaters from Ragged Point to the mouth of the Potomac River, south to the Rappahannock River and across to the eastern shore. The organization receives no government monetary support and depends solely on the proceeds of Annual Reedville Fishing Derby and donations to fund their operation for the year.

This year, the prime sponsors of the Reedville Fishing Derby are Coors Brewing company and Watermen's Cove a luxury 100% waterfront community on beautiful and historic Cockrell's Creek on Fleeton Road in Reedville.
