Sept. 23, , 2011 Wildlife Refuge celebrates milestone Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge is celebrating its 15th anniversary since first being established in 1996. The Refuge and the Rappahannock Wildlife Refuge Friends invite you to celebrate this anniversary at the “Go Wild!” Fall Event at the Hutchinson Tract on Saturday, October 2, 2011 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. “Go Wild!” will be an exciting, fun-filled day packed with events for all ages including a kids’ Birds and Binoculars program, an adult scavenger hunt, nature walks, arts and crafts activities, storytelling, and multiple exhibitors featuring interactive activities. The Tappahannock Arts Guild will also present artists working live along the trails! The Rappahannock Wildlife Refuge Friends will provide free hot dogs, baked beans, cookies, cider and lemonade to attendees. In addition, the Friends will hold drawings throughout the afternoon for a range of prizes! Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge has a strong commitment to the community and is proud to celebrate their anniversary by hosting an unforgettable day for neighbors, partners, and families. “This is a great opportunity to visit a beautiful property that features trails and other opportunities for the public, to participate in unique and interactive activities, and to celebrate an incredibly important milestone for the Refuge,” said Refuge Manager Andy Hofmann.
