The Board of Management has submitted a request to Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, for matching funds of $1.5 million in stimulus funding. Through this request process, local volunteers have met with and gained the support from Delegate Albert Pollard, State Senator Richard Stuart and Congressman Rob Whitman. | When executives at Omega Protein in Reedville heard about the Northumberland Family YMCA’s plans for a new state of the art facility in Heathsville, they didn’t hesitate. The Houston-based company pledged $50,000 to the YMCA’s current $3.6 million Capital Campaign.
Both Jane Crowther, Senior Director, Refined Oils, at the Reedville plant and John Held, Executive Vice-president at Omega’s corporate headquarters in Houston, see the new YMCA in Northumberland as a huge bonus to a local business such as Omega Protein. Read more. |

| Two more individuals have stepped forward within recent days to make major financial pledges to the Northumberland Family YMCA’s Capital Campaign. The campaign has the goal of converting the present Northumberland High School Gym into a $3.6 million, 22-thousand square foot, full service facility. |

| The Northumberland Family YMCA is getting closer to its financial goal, which will enable it to renovate the present Northumberland High School Gym into a 22-thousand square foot, full service facility. David and Carolyn Scarbrough of Heathsville have pledged a $75,000 unrestricted gift to go toward turning the gym and 16 surrounding acres into a state of the art YMCA campus. |

| A wide cross section of the Northumberland County community is joining forces to make a dream a reality – construction of a new, $3.6 million state of the art YMCA facility in Heathsville. The Northumberland Family YMCA, a division of the Peninsula YMCA, has signed a 50 year lease with Northumberland County for the Northumberland County High School Gymnasium and 16 acres of adjacent property. |
